In Memory and Honor of....Ivan Bailey

A special memorial to a very special man!

January 15th, a short-term mission team from Central Christian Church will be arriving with hopes to spend the following week serving in Mexico at the camp in San Carlos.  Part of the team coming is Tom Bailey, his wife, Kaye and their son Nathaniel.  A part of the money that the Bailey's and the rest of the team will be using for their project is memorial monies that were donated in memory of Tom's dad, Ivan Bailey.  Ivan went home to his Lord in 2009.

We'd like to tell you a bit about Ivan.  He was raised in a Godly home and grew up to be a gentle, kind, God loving and fearing man.  He and his wife, Joyce,   raised four children (Melissa, Tom, Mary and Sara)  on a home farm that has been in their family for several generations.   All of them  are now grown and are loving and serving the Lord that their father and mother introduced them to.    Ivan was for many years an elder at Central Christian Church in Rockford, IL. He was also a Sunday School teacher.  Ivan and  Joyce were often some of the first ones present when someone became ill or entered the hospital or had some sorrow or a death in the family.  They put  the "talking of their faith" into action.

Many years ago, when we began to come to Mexico as "short-term" workers ourselves, Ivan was often one of the men that came with and assisted with the mission work in Mexico.  One of the stories about Ivan that is most personal to us was his influence on one of our children, our daughter Kelly.  She was probably 13 on that first mission trip they took together.  She recalled upon her return how much she enjoyed coming as a team with other adults and not just as teenagers.  We asked her why and she said, "Every morning I would see Ivan Bailey get up early, find a quiet spot in the church building we were sleeping in, and I could see him spend time in prayer and study of God's word."  She went on to say,  "You know, I see him around at church, I know he's an elder, but I never really knew who he was until I got the opportunity to spend the week with him and Mexico and see what his faith and his devotion to the Lord meant to him."

We are so grateful for the opportunity that Kelly had, as through the years, many others have had to see a live, vital faith shared by witness of Ivan Bailey.

We thank Joyce and her family for offering to use some memorial money in honor of  Ivan for the completion of the caretaker's house in Mexico.

Please pray with us, that as Ivan shared his love for the Lord, lived his devotion in front of many, and served completely His Lord throughout his life, that those who minister from this new home at Rancho San Jose might also be able to provide such a beautiful witness for Jesus Christ!

We miss you Ivan!

Beloved leader
I would like to say that this news of Mr. Ivan Bailey's passing has come as a shock for me since I have been away from home for many years. I am sad to have lost the chance to learn so much from Mr. Bailey because I know that he was wise in the Truth and an example of what Christ wishes that we all were. To his dear wife and other family I wish to say that my heart is with you. For even though this is only a temporary loss, even that short of a seperation can be very hard to bare. Remember that God is our straingth when we have none ourselves, though I know that you are even more aware of this than I.
May Mr. Bailey's spirit be at rest until Christ's return where upon it will be filled with endless joy.

In Loving Sorrow,
Janell Reyes
